MERITER RETIREMENT COMMUNITY - Madison, WI
Consulted with Meriter as they planned a replacement assisted living center. Initially focused on conceptualizing the image and levels of service for this new facility. Substantial involvement throughout the design process with the architects.

ST. JOHN’S – Milwaukee, WI

Evaluated existing building and care practices and developed and implemented a new model of care for the 100 bed nursing home portion of this upscale retirement community. Implementation included developing an extensive staff training curriculum for all levels of staff, and working with their architect to develop significant renovations for the 30 year old building. Project is also undergoing systematic evaluation of model of care implementation, funded by the Retirement Research Foundation.

VETERAN’S ADMINISTRATION – VISN 6
Part of an interdisciplinary team to implement a clinical initiatives intervention to improve the environment of care in four VA facilities in VISN 6. Specific focus is on meals, orientation and mobility to the dining room, and am care routines. Conducted environmental assessments and evaluated use of the existing environmental resources, developed physical environmental modification plan for each site, and evaluated impact of modifications on behavioral and satisfaction outcomes.

OHIO EASTERN STAR
Provided pre-design programming, conceptual plan development and detailed plan reviews for the restructuring and renovation of their dementia care program. Included staff education and detailed plan reviews.

MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES, Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada
The government of Yukon runs three aged care facilities. I.D.E.A.S., Inc. is helping all three facilities to move toward a home-based model of care. Organizational structure, care practices, policies, and physical environment are all being modified. Our activities have included focus groups, team building exercises, staff education and plan review.

PHILADELPHIA GERIATRIC CENTER - Philadelphia, PA
Integrally involved in the development process of a new campus for PGC. Initial consultation was at the conceptual level, reviewing emerging trends in long term care and different philosophies of care. Subsequent activities included detailed plan reviews and design assistance.

THE WEALSHIRE - Chicago, IL
Worked with the owner/developer very early in the planning process to help define the overall model of care for this state of the art dementia care facility. Consulted with the architect, Ken Behles, on creating a residential experience in this 144 bed, one story building.

FRIENDSHIP VILLAGE OF DUBLIN - Dublin, OH
Worked with Friendship Village on their continuum of dementia care service program. Participated in creating a dementia-specific assisted living unit, with well defined and objective admission and discharge criteria. Future activity will involve assisting with the design of an addition.

HENNIS CARE CENTER -
Dover, OH

Defined alternative options for their nursing station and staff work spaces. Proposed innovative solutions for creating a therapeutic kitchen to support more home-based activities and increasing storage. Conducted staff training about how to implement a home-like model of care and increase family involvement in the program.
